Meet my new baby ‘Arya Blue’! It’s a Crafter Tidy, and as you can see it’s REALLY small, compared to the GA shape guitar. It barely comes up to my waist, is very light, and clearly made for travel and portability. It’s just what I need because I can’t lug around Dandy, my lovely first guitar (jumbo sized), anywhere… Dandy therefore sits sadly in my parents’ home all year round. I travel internationally regularly, so this guitar is pretty much perfect; it fits in the overhead compartment of an airplane, I’m told. I was getting my usual guitar-withdrawal symptoms after not playing for a while and I bought Arya after some consideration.
For those of you who are guitar nerds like me, Arya has surprising volume for a mini guitar (which is often what you have to sacrifice with a body that small) and the balance/action/tone is great. The bass notes don’t have much definition, which is a pity, but it’s still there. It has a bright, kind of jangling (?) tone, which I’ll probably have to balance with Martin strings…
I was due for an upgrade in this instrument department, but since I’m a broke college kid, I really can’t afford to buy a higher end guitar at this point… so I guess Arya will accompany me around campus until I save up enough for hopefully a full sized, sexy guitar. UNTIL THAT DAY.
